CHECK UP AND CLEANING
At Blue Dog Family Dentistry we understand the importance of preventive care, and that means we put a special focus on dental exams and cleanings. It’s important for our patients to understand that there is now a known connection between our oral health and our overall health. This is one reason why it’s important to diagnose and treat common oral health problems early, when we can address them conservatively. Our goal is for you to enjoy good oral health and well being throughout your life.
We recommend that patients see us for exams and cleanings at least twice a year. Dental exams help us spot oral health problems like gum disease, tooth decay, teeth grinding, and even oral cancer. Recommended dental cleanings help remove the bacteria and plaque that you weren’t able to remove at home with brushing and flossing. Limiting the amount of bacteria and plaque in your mouth will help protect you from common oral health care problems, and also lead to a healthier you.
CHILDREN’S DENTISTRY
Your Child’s First Appointment: Blue Dog Family Dentistry generally begins seeing kids around one year of age. Your child’s first appointment will involve an inspection of all the teeth and gums, and a check for proper development and any signs of decay. We will inform you of any concerns, and we can respond with treatment as soon as possible. It’s important to prevent years of dental work down the road, saving your family time and eliminating the need for costly corrective work.
At Blue Dog Family Dentistry, we can perform Pediatric dental care on the youngest members of your household and set an excellent foundation for their lifelong dental health.
SEALANTS
Did you know dental sealants can help reduce decay by up to 80%? Placing a dental sealant requires No numbing and is completely painless. The sealant is placed into the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. The material will literally SEAL over the grooves where plaque and bacteria get trapped. We generally recommend kids get sealants as soon as their adult molars come in (around age 6 and age 12). Sealants can be a great options for adults who don’t have fillings or crowns covering the chewing surfaces of their back teeth.
NIGHT GUARDS
Do you ever wake up with a sore jaw? Has a dentist ever told you that you have signs of tooth wear from clenching or grinding? Do your teeth appear shorter than they used to be? If you said yes to any of these questions, a night guard may be a good option for you. Our jaws are capable of creating an incredible amount of force, and a night guard can help protect the teeth and jaw joint from those forces.
